Xenomania-house-drummer-turned-aspiring-popstar Florrie has been present in a number of my posts. This is because a) I'm a sucker for free music; b) she is very very promising; c) ALL of her songs available for download are either above average or amazing; and d) Florrie kicks arse at drumming.

If you look here, you'll find some "amazemular music" courtesy of this unsigned star-to-be. And guess what folks, she's done it again! Two new tracks in a single week. Very good ones, if I may add.

Give Me Your Love features fast-paced drumming and is probably the most "organic" Florrie song yet (Am I making any sense?). The guitar riff gives a lovely touch to it, and the piano brushes throughout the track adds a certain depth that bodes well for Florrie's cool vocals.


You Wanna Start Something. Like Fascinate Me, it sounds like a Girls Aloud track circa Tangled Up. It resembles a lot of the sounds on that album, which is a compliment in itself. The pacing is quite upbeat (typical Florrie) and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. AGAIN with the amazing guitar riffs!


So far, Florrie has six tracks available for download (in various formats too!) and ALL OF THEM are worth your time. Seriously. I haven't the slightest clue of where Florrie's going with this 'free for fans' approach, but the music she gives off are so poptastic it makes me forget about all the 'SIGN THIS GIRL UP' hullabaloo.

It's been more than a year since I first posted about Xenomania house drummer turned pop warbler Florrie, and boy, she's gone far. Her music has been a delight from Call 911 in 2010 to her latest song entitled Begging Me. This girl knows her pop formula in and out, always delivering classy, smooth-flowing tunes. Begging Me is one of her best, and that speaks volumes because almost everything Florrie puts out is well above average.

Look who's lost her music video virginity as well (minus that stint for Nina L'Elixir)!


Begging Me is now available on iTunes. It is the lead track for Florrie's upcoming EP out on May 26th.

Two brand new tracks have spawned from Xenomania house drummer now aspiring pop star Florrie, and both of them are terribly good! Quite the club stomper. Featuring brilliant production from German DJ Moguai, Come Back To Mine has synthastic lasers going "PEW PEW PEW" (Seriously!). This is the same guy who worked on Mini Viva's Bedroom Viber. That, in itself, says a lot about quality.

Fascinate Me (Fred Falke Edit)
Fred Falke once again teams up with Florrie and imprints Fascinate Me with his ever-genius synths and emerges with an electropop triumph in hand. Is it just me or does this track sound a little like Girls Aloud circa Tangled Up? That's certainly not a bad thing (it makes me even love it more), but the verses are very much GA-esque.

Ben Drew aka Plan B released his sophomore album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks (TDSB), this week. For starters, it is a FULL departure from his rap-filled debut album. TDSB showcases Plan B's vocal ability rather than rapping skill and it results in a soulful, concept album that... well, I'll save the rest for my review. ;)

Speaking of rappers, Stephen Paul Manderson aka Professor Green has his single out. I Need You Tonight featuring Ed Drewett is showing a great chart position in the UK midweeks, battling Usher's OMG for the #2 spot.

In other chart-related news, Scouting For Girls are headed towards another week at the UK #1 with This Ain't A Love Song, which would make it three weeks on top. On the album midweeks however, SFG is losing the #1 spot to Plan B. Hurrah!

Xenomania producer and main songwriter for our favorite UK girlband Girls Aloud, Brian Higgins, said that it would be a miracle if the girls would come back for another album. Rumours of a rift between the Aloud have been going around like crazy SINCE their debut, and GA have proven the media wrong, but this time it might be different, since both Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding admitted that they haven't been in touch with fellow bandmate Nadine Coyle, who is busy recording in LA for her solo effort. After the release of Christina Aguilera's comeback single Not Myself Tonight (listen here), the media has been abuzz with Lady Gaga comparisons. Akon speaks out, "Aw man, that’s not even any competition. You are actually giving Christina too much credit." Well, excuse me, Akon. Xtina was fa-bu-lous (and Dirrty) waaaay before Gaga came. Both of these pop divas are lovely, but to say it like that makes Akon a very close-minded individual, per se. (via MTV UK)

As you all know, POP from the Block has been M.I.A. for the past few months, and eager to get back on track. So I've put together a juicy little playlist of poptastic tunes you ought to take note of.

A post along these lines is way overdue. so here's a little glimpse of what's currently getting massive plays in the world of Pop from the Block...

Aphrodite. "I'm fierce and I'm feeling mighty!" Fierce and mighty are the two exact words I'd use in describing the title track (besides amazing, brilliant, eargasmic etc etc) to Miss Minogue's eleventh LP. It's THE power song of the album, and every time I hear it I have the urge to strut on my imaginary catwalk.


Sex and Violence. Taken from the Scissor Sister's 3rd longplayer, it's one of the most interesting tracks in Night Work and it's absolutely GENIUS from the captivating lyrics to the throbbing synths.


King of Anything. Ah, Sara Bareilles. After hearing snippets of some of her songs on the upcoming Kaleidoscope Heart LP, I'm buzzing with excitement (especially since there's a potential Gravity 2.0) and the first single is nothing short of a catchy, fun, fuck you pop number.


Misery. I have to admit, I didn't exactly warm to the song at first listen, but it gets better and better, especially when it's accompanied by a sexy, violent video where Adam's girlfriend toys with switchblades and rockets.


Cupid Boy. I am in LOVE with this track (along with erm, a 'couple' more). The guitar streak at the beginning sets the mood for the song, intense and sensual. Mmm...
