The lovely little popstrel from 2008's The X Factor stormed the UK singles charts with debut single Once, knocking off Usher's OMG from the #1 spot. If you remember (probably not), Diana Vickers' Once was our song of the day way back in March 21, and since then I've expressed my anticipation of Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree, the album due out on May 3rd. Based on the sampler that has been going around the web, this is going to be one album worth the wait. The possibility of BOTH Once and Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree taking over the singles and albums charts isn't a long shot, so we'll see that in a couple of weeks.

Another song I'm quite fond of is Chip 'n Esmée's Until You Were Gone, which settled at #3 on the UK charts, being #2 during the midweeks, making it the 4th track from I Am Chipmunk to break the top ten. A very peculiar re-entry is legend Tina Turner's The Best, which dates way way way back to 1989, thanks to a campaign by the Rangers FC to get her to #1.

Here is the official top ten as of April 25:
1. (new) Once by Diana Vickers
2. (- 1) OMG by Usher feat. Will.I.Am.
3. (new) Until You Were Gone by Chipmunk feat. Esmée Denters
4. (• 4) She Said by Plan B
5. (- 2) This Ain't A Love Song by Scouting For Girls
6. (- 3) I Need You Tonight by Professor Green feat. Ed Drewett
7. (- 5) Acapella by Keils
8. (• 8) Carry Out by Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake
9. (new) The Best by Tina Turner
10. (- 7) Naturally by Selena Gomez & The Scene
